Zimaam (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a
mindful-screen-time app that helps you pause before opening distracting apps.
This policy explains what data the app collects, why, how it is stored, and the
choices you have. By using Zimaam you agree to the practices described here.
We collect the minimum needed to run the app: your account email and the settings/usage data that power the pause, limits, and streak features.
On Android, the app reads only which app is currently in the foreground and daily per-app usage totals. It does not read your messages, notifications, screen contents, photos, or browsing.
On iOS, your selection of apps to manage stays on your device via Apple’s Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. We never see which apps you chose.
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete account), or by emailing us.
1. Who we are
Zimaam is developed and operated by the Zimaam developer (“the
developer”). For privacy questions or data requests, contact
nbalamri@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
a. Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address. If
you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile
information from Google as permitted by your Google account. Passwords are handled
by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are never stored by us in readable
form.
b. App configuration and content you create
To provide the service, we store the settings and content you create in the
app, including:
The list of apps you choose to monitor (on Android, the app’s package name and a display name/icon), and the groups and daily limits you set for them.
Block schedules (days and times) you configure.
Preferences such as theme, language, strict mode, sounds, haptics, and pause duration.
Streak progress and a per-day history (including the reflection notes you type and a snapshot of which apps went over their limit on a given day).
Pause history: the app involved, the reason you type when continuing, and whether you closed the app or continued.
c. Usage information
To decide when to show a pause, time-up, or block screen, the app reads:
Android: which application is currently in the foreground and the daily foreground-time totals for the apps you monitor. This is obtained through the Android Usage Access permission that you explicitly grant. We use it only to operate the app’s features described above.
iOS: the app uses Apple’s Family Controls / Screen Time framework. Your app selections are represented by opaque tokens that stay on your device; we do not receive the identities of the apps you select.
d. Information we do not collect
We do not collect the contents of your messages, emails, notifications,
photos, files, browsing history, precise location, contacts, or any screen
content.
3. Device-only data
Some data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers:
Your notification preferences (which encouragement messages and times are enabled) are stored locally on the device.
On iOS, your Screen Time app selections are stored locally and managed by the operating system.
Encouragement notifications are scheduled locally on your device; we do not operate a push server that receives your data for these reminders.
4. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
Authenticate you and keep you signed in.
Provide the core features: mindful pause, daily limits, time-up, scheduled blocks, and streak tracking.
Sync your settings and progress across your devices.
Send the encouragement reminders you enable (scheduled locally).
Maintain the security and integrity of the service.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do
not sell or rent it to third parties.
5. How your data is stored and protected
Your account and synced data are stored using Supabase (a hosted Postgres and authentication platform) acting as our data processor.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
Each user’s rows are protected by row-level security so that one user cannot read or modify another user’s data.
Your authentication session is stored on your device using the platform’s secure storage where available.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable
measures to protect your information.
6. Third-party services
Zimaam relies on the following service providers, who process data on our
behalf or as part of features you use:
Supabase — database, authentication, and account hosting.
Google — only if you choose “Sign in with Google”, for authentication.
Apple (iOS) and Google (Android) — operating-system frameworks for screen-time and usage features, and app distribution.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers for how
they handle data.
7. Data retention and deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your
account and all associated data at any time:
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and erases your monitored apps, groups, schedules, streaks, reflections, and pause history. This action cannot be undone.
By email: send a deletion request to nbalamri@gmail.com and we will delete your account and data.
When you delete your account, the associated records are removed from our
database. Backups, if any, are purged on our normal rotation.
8. Children’s privacy
Zimaam is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in
your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If
you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will
delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct,
export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain
processing. You can exercise the deletion right directly in the app, or contact
us at nbalamri@gmail.com for any other
request.
10. International users
Your data may be processed and stored on servers operated by our providers in
locations that may be outside your country of residence. By using the app you
consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we
will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate,
notify you in the app. Continued use of Zimaam after changes take effect
constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
